What’s the Goldrock series about?

Honor, courage and integrity. It’s about freedom. Tales of action, romance and adventure in the Old West, a place where civilization was defined not by how many laws people could pass but by how civil they could be. It’s about the tension between those that moved west with hopes that with hard work and a little luck a man could prosper and those that would crush those dreams. It’s about the little town of Goldrock…

Book 1: Goldrock

Freedom Enforced

With the Butt of a Gun

Goldrock Cover

When Buck McClaine rode into the little mining town of Goldrock, all he wanted was to settle down and start a new, quiet chapter of his life.

There’d been no official crime up here in this neck of the Montana Rockies for quite some time. Sheriff Pickett and his posse had run off the vicious outlaw gang that had terrorized the place for so long, and now the good townsfolk finally had freedom. Or did they?

Every Friday miners streamed into town with their gold dust, eager to spend it on supplies, good food and a soft bed. Almost anyone could afford to buy a business in town and tap into that wealth, thanks to the local banker. His ingenious financing method practically guaranteed they would prosper. Or did it?

And then there was beautiful, young Amanda O’Malley, who took an immediate liking to Buck. Or did she?

Freedom, prosperity and love. It was all right there in Goldrock, at least on the surface. But as any miner knows, it’s what lies underneath that matters, and what Buck quickly discovered was that if he valued any of those things, he would be in for the fight of his life. Yes, Buck had gotten his wish on starting a new chapter, but it would hardly be quiet.

And into the Fire!

Saddleback Mine Cover

After the rout of Pickett’s Posse and the other evil influences that had been ruining the lives of the Goldrock townsfolk, a big celebration was in order. But their party had hardly ended when things started to go wrong again.

Who was behind the arson at the bank? Who was killing off witnesses? And what were those mysterious notes they’d found referencing vast sums of money connected with some unknown, “Saddleback Mine”?

All Buck McClaine wanted to do after helping clean up the town was marry his lovely young fiancé, Amanda O’Malley, and settle down to a quiet life running his hardware store in this colorful little mining town up in the foothills of the Montana Rockies. And she wanted nothing more than to be the bride of this handsome newcomer.

But when people start to die and their friends disappear, they know that the celebration may have been a bit premature, and the honeymoon might have to wait. As events spiral out of control, it soon becomes clear that the only way out is to go in…into the dark recesses of Saddleback Mine.

Book 3: Rapturia

Where is Clarablle Grayson?

Nobody knows! One day she is in Goldrock, happy, it seems, thought struggling with the challenges of persuading the bashful young Sheriff Jed Barton to pop the question or even hold a coherent conversation with her; the next day she is gone without a trace.

Did the pretty teen leave on her own volition, frustrated and broken-hearted, off for a fresh start in a bigger town where there would be no reminders of her failing romance? Or are there forces more sinister at work?

The townsfolk of Goldrock aim to find out. So after forming up a posse led by Buck McClaine and making use of Jed’s superior tracking skills, they head off across southwestern Montana Territory following the only clues they have; a travelling snake-oil salesman, a horse with a worn shoe on a nicked hoof, and a brand made up of a mysterious symbol that nobody’s ever seen before and which doesn’t show up in any brand book. It’s a long shot, but every step takes them closer to discovering the terrifying truth.
